LiveData Protocol Server WSDL files buffer overflow

livedata-wsdl-bo (34031) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

LiveData Protocol Server is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by improper handling of requests for WSDL files. By sending a specially-crafted request to TCP port 8080, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with SYSTEM privileges or cause the server to crash.

Platforms Affected:

  • LiveData, LiveData Protocol Server 5.00.045 & prior

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of LiveData Protocol Server (500069 or later), available from the LiveData Web site. See References.

Consequences:
