MadWifi Fast Frame packets denial of service

madwifi-fastframe-dos (34455) The risk level is classified as LowLow Risk

Description:

MadWifi is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a NULL pointer dereference when parsing 802.3 Ethernet frame length fields in Fast Frame packets. By sending a specially-crafted Fast Frame packet, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the application to crash.

Platforms Affected:

  • Canonical, Ubuntu 6.06 LTS
  • Canonical, Ubuntu 6.10
  • Canonical, Ubuntu 7.04
  • Gentoo, Linux
  • Madwifi Driver, Madwifi Driver prior to 0.9.3.1
