Multiple vendors HTTP basic authentication spoofing

multiple-basic-authentication-spoofing (34983) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

Description:

Multiple vendors including Opera, Konqueror, Mozilla and Galeon could allow a remote attacker to spoof the URL in an HTTP basic authentication dialogue, caused by a visual truncation error. By persuading a victim to visit a specially-crafted Web page, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using an overly long hostname to spoof authentication dialogs and possibly perform phishing attacks.
