Description:
SILC Client and Toolkit are vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the client_notify.c file when handling NICK_CHANGE notifications. By changing a specially-crafted nickname, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the application to crash.
Platforms Affected:

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of SILC Client and Toolkit (1.1.2 or later), available from the SILC Web site. See References.
