libcurl GnuTLS weak security
| libcurl-gnutls-weak-security (35479) |
Description:
libcurl could provide weaker than expected security. The GnuTLS certificate implementation used by libcurl does not properly verify certificates. If libcurl is built to use GnuTLS, an authenticated remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to bypass security restrictions.
Note: Applications implementing libcurl are also affected by this vulnerability
Platforms Affected:
- Canonical, Ubuntu 6.06 LTS
- Canonical, Ubuntu 6.10
- Canonical, Ubuntu 7.04
- cURL, libcurl prior to 7.16.4
- Debian, Debian Linux 4.0
Remedy:
Refer to cURL Security Advisory (July 10, 2007) for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
For Ubuntu Linux:
Refer to USN-484-1 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
For Debian GNU/Linux (libcurl3-gnutls):
Refer to DSA-1333-1 for patch, upgrade, or suggested workaround information. See References.
For other distributions:
Contact your vendor for upgrade or patch information.
Consequences:
Bypass Security
