Description:
IBM AIX is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow in the capture command. By capturing an overly long terminal control sequence, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with root privileges.
Platforms Affected:
- IBM, AIX 5L 5.3 SP6
Remedy:
Apply the interim fix for this vulnerability (capture_ifix.tar.Z), available from the IBM AIX FTP site. See References.
