Description:

The Microsoft Agent ActiveX control (agentdpv.dll) is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the Agent.Control function. By persuading a victim to visit a specially-crafted Web page, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with the victim's privileges.

  • HP, Storage Management Appliance 2.1
  • Microsoft, Windows 2000 SP4

Remedy:

Apply the appropriate patch for your system, as listed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-051. See References.
