Description:

Trend Micro ServerProtect is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the TMregChange() function in the TMReg.dll library. By sending specially-crafted data to TCP port 5005, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with SYSTEM privileges or cause the application to crash.

Platforms Affected:

  • Trend Micro, ServerProtect for Windows 5.58 Build 1176 and prior

Remedy:

Apply the patch for this vulnerability (Security Patch 4 - Build 1185), available from the Trend Micro Web site. See References.
