Apache HTTP Server UTF-7 cross-site scripting
| apache-utf7-xss (36586) |
Description:
Apache HTTP Server is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input by mod_autoindex.c. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using the UTF-7 charset option to inject malicious script into a Web page which would be executed in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the page is viewed. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.

- CVE-2007-4465: Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in mod_autoindex.c in the Apache HTTP Server before 2.2.6, when the charset on a server-generated page is not defined, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the P parameter using the UTF-7 charset. NOTE: it could be argued that this issue is due to a design limitation of browsers that attempt to perform automatic content type detection.
