Firebird isc_attach_database() and isc_create_database() buffer overflow
| firebird-attach-create-bo (36958) |
Description:
Firebird is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the isc_attach_database() and isc_create_database() functions. By sending a specially-crafted request using various parameters, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the database to crash.
Platforms Affected:
- FirebirdSQL, Firebird 2.0.0.12748
- FirebirdSQL, Firebird 2.0.1.12855
- Gentoo, Linux
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Firebird (2.0.3.12981 or later), available from the Firebird Web site. See References.
Consequences:
Gain Access
