Description:
IrfanView is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking when importing palette files. By persuading a victim to import a specially-crafted palette file, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system.
Platforms Affected:
- Irfanview, IrfanView 4.00 and prior
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of IrfanView (4.10 or later), available from the IrfanView Web site. See References.
