Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) and PIX MGCP denial of service

cisco-asa-pix-mgcp-dos (37259) The risk level is classified as LowLow Risk

Description:

Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) and PIX security appliances are vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by the improper handling of malformed MGCP packets. If the Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) application layer protocol inspection feature is enabled, a remote attacker could send specially-crafted MGCP packets to UDP port 2427 to cause the device to reload, resulting in a denial of service.

Platforms Affected:

  • Cisco, Adaptive Security Appliance 7.0
  • Cisco, Adaptive Security Appliance 7.1
  • Cisco, Adaptive Security Appliance 7.2
  • Cisco, Adaptive Security Appliance 8.0
  • Cisco, PIX Firewall 7.0
