PCRE escape sequence processing integer overflow
| pcre-escape-sequence-overflow (38276) |
Description:
The PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions) library is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by multiple integer overflows that can occur when processing escape sequences. By passing specially-crafted data to an application linked to the vulnerable library, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overflow a buffer and cause the application to crash or possibly execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the application.
