Apple QuickTime color table atom buffer overflow
| quicktime-colortable-atom-bo (38283) |
Description:
Apple QuickTime is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking when parsing the malformed color table atom. By persuading a victim to open a specially-crafted QuickTime movie file containing an invalid color table atom, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and cause the victim's QuickTime application to crash or possibly execute arbitrary code on the victim's system with the privileges of the victim. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending the malicious file as an email attachment or hosting it on a Web site.
