Mozilla Firefox and SeaMonkey jar: URI cross-site scripting
| firefox-jar-uri-xss (38356) |
Description:
Mozilla Firefox and SeaMonkey is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper validation of jar: URIs. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using a specially-crafted jar: URL to execute script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.
This vulnerability is only exploitable on Web sites that allow users to upload image, archive, and certain other file types.
