Samba reply_netbios_packet() buffer overflow
| samba-replynetbiospacket-bo (38502) |
Description:
Samba is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the reply_netbios_packet() function. If Samba is configured to run as a WINS server, a remote attacker from within the local network could send multiple specially-crafted WINS "Name Registration" requests followed by a WINS "Name Query" request to overflow a buffer and possibly execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system.
