Autonomy (formerly Verity) KeyView Viewer, Filter, and Export SDK .123 file viewer buffer overflow

lotus-123fileviewer-bo (38645) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

The Autonomy (formerly Verity) KeyView Viewer, Filter, and Export SDK, which is used in IBM Lotus Notes and possibly other applications, is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow in the Lotus 1-2-3 file viewer (l123sr.dll), caused by improper bounds checking of Lotus 1-2-3 (.123) files. By persuading a victim to view a specially-crafted .123 file using one of the affected file viewers, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the victim's application to crash.
