Description:
PeerCast is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the handshakeHTTP function. By sending an overly long request to the handshakeHTTP function, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges or cause the application to crash.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of PeerCast (0.1218 or later), available from the PeerCast Web site. See References.
