paramiko RandomPool information disclosure
| paramiko-randompool-info-disclosure (39749) |
Description:
paramiko could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by an error related to secure communications and passwords generated using the RandomPool class. If multiple connections request encrypted numbers to be generated simultaneously, the RandomPool class could assign duplicate connection numbers across various threads and processes. A remote attacker could exploit this weakness using brute force techniques to discover passwords or man-in-the-middle techniques to obtain sensitive information transmitted between paramiko connections.
Platforms Affected:
- Gentoo, Linux
- Robey Pointer, paramiko 1.6.4
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of paramiko (1.7.2 or later), available from the paramiko Web page. See References.
