IBM Informix Dynamic Server XDR multiple buffer overflows
| ibm-ids-xdr-bo (40018) |
Description:
IBM Informix Dynamic Server is vulnerable to multiple stack and heap-based buffer overflows, caused by improper bounds checking by the library containing the XDR functions which are used by the RPC components. By sending specially-crafted RPC requests to various Informix Storage Manager RPC ports, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with administrative privileges or cause the server to crash.
Platforms Affected:
- IBM, Informix Dynamic Server 10.0
- IBM, Informix Dynamic Server 11.1
Remedy:
Refer to IBM Flash (Alert) 1294211 for patch, upgrade or workaround information. See References.
