libpng zero length chunks code execution
| libpng-zero-length-code-execution (41800) |
Description:
libpng could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by the improper handling of unknown PNG chunks. By creating PNG chunks with a zero length, a remote attacker could cause the use of uninitialized memory to obtain sensitive information, cause a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code on the system, once the chunks are processed by libpng.
Platforms Affected:
- Gentoo, Linux
- libpng, libpng 1.0.6 - 1.0.32
- libpng, libpng 1.2.0 - 1.2.26
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2007.1
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2007.1 X86_64

- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2008.0
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2008.1
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2008.1 X86_64
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux Corporate Server 3.0
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux Corporate Server 3.0 X86_64
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux Corporate Server 4.0
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux Corporate Server 4.0 X86_64
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Multi Network Firewall 2.0
Remedy:
