Description:

Firefly Media Server is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by an integer overflow error in the ws_getpostvars function. By sending a specially-crafted HTTP POST request containing an overly large Content-Length value, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges or cause the application to crash.

Remedy:

Upgrade to the latest version of Firefly Media Server (0.2.4.2 or later), available from the Firefly Media Server Web site. See References.
