Description:
The tmpfs feature feature in Solaris could allow a local attacker to gain elevated privileges, caused by the use of unused swap space as a /tmp directory. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability to delete files from this directory and gain root privileges.
Platforms Affected:
- Sun, Solaris 1.0
- Sun, Solaris 2.3
- Sun, Solaris 2.4 x86
Remedy:
This vulnerability has been fixed in Solaris 2.5 and newer; users of older Solaris installations should obtain and apply the following patches:
- Solaris 2.3: 101545-02
- Solaris 2.4: 102711-01
- Solaris 2.4_x86: 102712-01
