IBM AIX setuid root iostat buffer overflow
| ibm-aix-setuidroot-iostat-bo (42579) |
Description:
IBM AIX is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the setuid root iostat command. By sending a specially-crafted request using certain environment variables, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with root privileges or cause the application to stop responding.
