poppler Page class constructor/destructor code execution
| poppler-page-destructor-code-execution (43619) |
Description:
poppler could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by the deletion of an uninitialized pageWidgets object in the Page class constructor/destructor. By persuading a victim to open a specially-crafted PDF file, a remote attacker could invoke a call to an address during the deletion of the object and execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable system.
Platforms Affected:
- Canonical, Ubuntu 7.10
- Canonical, Ubuntu 8.04 LTS
- Gentoo, Linux
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2008.0
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2008.0 X86_64
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2008.1 X86_64
- MandrakeSoft, Mandrake Linux 2008.1
- Poppler, Poppler 0.8.4 and prior
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of poppler (0.8.5 or later), available from the poppler Web site. See References.
Consequences:
Gain Access
