IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Backup-Archive client buffer overflow
| ibm-tsm-backuparchiveclient-bo (46208) |
Description:
The IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Backup-Archive client is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking when the Client Acceptor Daemon (CAD) is enabled or the Backup-Archive client scheduler and scheduler service has the option SCHEDMODE set to PROMPTED. By sending a specially-crafted packet to the Data Protection for SQL CAD service, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with SYSTEM privileges or cause the application to crash.
