BlackBerry Attachment Service PDF distiller symWidths buffer overflow

blackberry-attachment-symwidths-bo (47902) The risk level is classified as HighHigh Risk

Description:

The BlackBerry Attachment Service component, which is used in BlackBerry Unite!, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and BlackBerry Professional Software is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the PDF distiller. By sending an email message containing a PDF file attachment with an overly long symWidths stream, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system running the BlackBerry Attachment Service, once the malicious PDF file is opened for viewing on a BlackBerry smartphone.
