Linux imwheel symlink attack
| linux-imwheel-symlink (4941) |
Description:
The imwheel package in Red Hat Powertools follows symbolic links without any file checking. An attacker could create symbolic links to gain access to the contents of files.
Consequences:
File Manipulation
Remedy:
Red Hat recommends that multiuser computers delete imwheel, because imwheel core functionality has been incorporated into many existing applications, and removing imwheel will not incur a significant loss of functionality.
Remove imwheel using the following command:
rpm -e imwheel
