Microsoft Windows CryptoAPI NULL spoofing
| win-cryptoapi-null-spoofing (53535) |
Description:
Microsoft Windows CryptoAPI could allow a remote attacker to conduct spoofing attacks, caused by the improper parsing of NULL terminators in X.509 certificates. By persuading a victim to visit a Web site containing a specially-crafted X.509 certificate with NULL terminators in the Common Name (CN) field, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using man-in-the-middle techniques to cause the victim to accept an invalid certificate as valid and redirect a user to a malicious Web site that would appear to be trusted.
