WatchGuard SOHO administrator password can be remotely reset

Description:
WatchGuard SOHO Firewall could allow a remote attacker to make a blank unauthenticated POST request to the /passcfg object, which resets the administrator password. This gives the attacker the ability to connect to the HTTP server without knowing the username and password and make arbitrary changes to the firewall's configuration, such as changing the administrator's password or restarting the firewall.
Platforms Affected:
- WatchGuard, WatchGuard SOHO 1.6.x
- WatchGuard, WatchGuard SOHO 2.1.3 and prior
Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of WatchGuard SOHO firmware (2.2.1 or later), available from the WatchGuard Technologies Web site. See References.
