Microsoft Office COM code execution
| ms-office-com-code-execution (58862) |
Description:
Microsoft Office could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system, caused by the improper validation of COM (Component Object Model) object instantiation by Windows Shell and WordPad. By persuading a victim to open a specially-crafted Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio, WordPad or Word file with an affected version of Microsoft Office, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability and execute arbitrary code on the system with the privileges of the victim.
