HP-UX CDE buffer overflow could allow elevation of privileges
|hp-cde-bo (6585)||High Risk|
HP-UX is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in several Common Desktop Environment (CDE) modules. By passing specially-crafted data to a CDE module, a local attacker can overflow a buffer. An attacker could use this vulnerability to cause a denial of service attack against the affected system or to gain elevated privileges.
Apply the appropriate patch for your system, as listed in Hewlett-Packard Company Security Bulletin HPSBUX0105-151. See References.
