Description:
The readline library in OpenBSD could allow an attacker to obtain sensitive information. The readline library creates history files with unsafe permissions. An attacker could use this vulnerability to gain access to sensitive information, such as passwords.

Remedy:
For OpenBSD 2.7:
Apply the 040_readline patch, as listed in OpenBSD Security Announcement, March 20, 2001. See References.
For OpenBSD 2.8:
Apply the 024_readline patch, as listed in OpenBSD Security Announcement, March 20, 2001. See References.
