Description:

Microsoft Services for Unix (SFU) is vulnerable to a denial of service attack, caused by memory leak in the NFS (Network File System) service. Microsoft SFU is an add-on package that is used to integrate Windows computers into an existing Unix environment. A remote attacker can send a specially-crafted request to the NFS service to consume the kernel memory, which causes the system to fail. The system must be restarted to regain normal functionality.

Remedy:

Apply the appropriate patch for your system, as listed in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-004. See References.
