Description:
MIT Kerberos 5 using the Kerberos 4 compatibility libraries is vulnerable to a buffer overflow caused by a long line in a kerberos configuration file. By specifying a long line in the configuration file using the KRB_CONF environmental variable, a local attacker can overflow a buffer to gain root privileges on the affected system.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of Kerberos 5 (1.0.6 or later), available from the MIT Kerberos Web site. See References.
