Description:

Snes9x is vulnerable to a buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking of ROM (Read Only Memory) names. By sending a ROM name containing 4089 bytes or more as an argument, a local attacker can overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system to gain elevated privileges. On systems where the Snes9x utilities have been installed setuid root, an attacker can exploit this vulnerability to gain root privileges on the system.
