wmtv insecure configuration file symlink
|wmtv-config-file-symlink (8110)||Medium Risk|
wmtv could allow a local attacker to launch a symlink attack. wmtv is installed setuid root, which causes the wmtv configuration file to be written back as the superuser. A local attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating symbolic links from the configuration file to arbitrary files on the system, which would be overwritten once wmtv is executed.
For Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 (potato):
Upgrade to the latest version of wmtv (0.6.5-2potato2 or later), as listed in DSA-108-1. See References.
