Description:
irssi, if downloaded after 14-March-2002, could contain a backdoor that is installed as part of the configure file. The Web site hosting irssi was compromised around 14-March-2002 and the configure file that irssi uses was replaced with a trojan. This vulnerability could result in a complete system compromise for affected irssi users.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest version of irssi (0.8.4a or later), available from the irssi Web site. See References.
