mnews multiple local command-line and environment variable buffer overflows
|mnews-multiple-local-bo (9227)||High Risk|
mnews is vulnerable to multiple local buffer overflows. By supplying an overly long string to the -f, -D, -M, -P, or -n command-line argument or setting the MAILSERVER or JNAMES environment variable to an overly large value, a local attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges.
No remedy available as of September 1, 2014.
