Description:

Microsoft SQLXML, included as part of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Gold or available as a separate add-on component for SQL Server, is vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the Internet Services Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) extension that handles data queries over HTTP. SQLXML is a component used to exchange Extensible Markup Language (XML) data with a SQL server. By sending a malformed HTTP database request to an affected server, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the server or cause the server to fail.

Block or restrict the following in the ISS Protection Platform as appropriate to the environment:
Port 80
