Symantec Norton Personal Firewall and Norton Internet Security HTTP proxy buffer overflow

Description:
Symantec Norton Personal Firewall and Norton Internet Security are vulnerable to a buffer overflow in the HTTP proxy. By causing an outgoing HTTP request containing an overly long hostname to be sent through the firewall, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a malicious URL link that would trigger the buffer overflow when the unsuspecting user clicks the link.
