Midnight Commander has world readable directory and files

Description:
Midnight Commander (mc) could allow a local attacker to view files in the $HOME/.mc/ directory, which includes history files. Because the mc tool stores plaintext usernames and passwords in the history file, a local attacker could use this vulnerability to gain elevated privileges on the system.

Remedy:
Upgrade to the latest release of Midnight Commander, or at least to version 4.5.51, based on when the recording of passwords was disabled. See References.
