Microsoft Internet Explorer file download origin spoofing

ie-file-origin-spoofing (9937) The risk level is classified as MediumMedium Risk

A vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer could allow a remote attacker to spoof the download location of files in the File Download Dialog box. A remote attacker could create a specially-crafted URL link for a downloadable file, that could cause the wrong download location to be displayed in the File Download Dialog box when a victim prepares to download the file. This could lead the victim to trust that the file comes from a trusted source and is safe for downloading. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a malicious Web page and hosting it on a Web site or sending it to a victim as an HTML email.
